Meet the Krieger family. Chris was a former musician in bands like Nerve and Dr. Zhivegas. He still performs with McLovin' when his busy life permits. Carey is a super-mom who managed to earn her Doctorate in Administration while juggling a career and family. Their three amazing kids love to dance, play soccer and baseball, and could potentially become future Realtors, having seen so many homes over the course of a year. With three children, moving can be a challenge. With a baby on the way, low housing inventory, and wrapping up a school year as teachers; let's just say the move couldn't have come soon enough. The Krieger family were troopers through the whole process. With family as their focus, they just couldn't settle for a home that didn't meet all of their needs. They also added a memorable twist to their house hunt. They didn't tell their kids they bought the house and surprised them after closing with yet another "tour" that ended with finding their names on their OWN bedroom doors. Aww, doesn't that just give you all the feels?

What was it about this house that stood out from others you had seen?

The location is great, because it’s only a few miles from our old house. It is still very convenient for the girls’ dance, school, work, and all the things we love to do. Our favorite features are the extension built on the back of the house. It doubled the size of the living room, so our family room doubles as an extra big play room. The addition also includes an enclosed three season sun room and a beautiful covered outdoor cooking area with a built-in grill, marble countertops, and sink.

What was the strangest thing you saw or experienced while looking at homes?

I guess the strangest thing we saw was a house where you had to go through the laundry room to access one of the bedrooms. Also, there was one house where the linoleum in the kitchen had recently been cut and laid down, but it was literally free-floating on the existing floor & had not actually been installed. We went through dozens of open houses and viewings. It took a long time to find what we were looking for.

What are some of your favorite things about living here?

The space! We went from 700 square feet to over 2,400 square feet. All the kids have their own room, and we have loved giving each of them their own personal space. We’ve decorated each bedroom to match the interests and style of each child. We also love the giant family room. We have painted nearly every wall in the house and have reveled in making it our own. We also can’t wait to use the outdoor cooking area and sun room to entertain friends and family. The proximity to Grant’s Trail is also amazing!

If you could go back, would you have done anything differently?

It was challenging to move during the school year with three kids, a pregnancy, and both of us being teachers. The kids’ activities combined with our work really slowed down the process of settling in, but now we have the summer to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

We love how it is a family owned and operated business. We picked them because they continuously invest back in the community through service projects, business investments, and living in the neighborhood they serve. Every person we worked with through Garcia Properties was customer-oriented, professional, and kind.  Buying and selling a house is an extremely stressful process, but working with Garcia Properties made doing both a pleasure.
