When Carol & David's 5 children finally left the nest they were ready for some carefree living.  They started out with a very specific wish list & a very unspecific area. Their search took them all over the city & county & even had them questioning if they really could have it all.  Once they found "the one", they unfortunately found that not every path to home ownership is a smooth one. From survey stress to havoc with their HVAC, the struggle was real to say the least.  With patience & perseverance they ended up with an amazingly cool & energy efficient forever home.

You sold AND purchased a new home basically at the same time.  Were you downsizing, up-sizing or did you just need a change of scenery?

"We were "rightsizing."  We loved our 85 year old home in University City, but found ourselves spending a lot of time & money on upkeep & maintenance. We wondered what we would do should an injury or illness prevent us to from accessing the master bedroom & bath on the second floor.  Dang, that makes us sound like "old people" but we decided now was a good time to make a move, while we are in good health & can enjoy a new home & get to know a new neighborhood."

How did you feel the first time you walked in; was it love at first sight? ‍

"I can be fairly picky so I didn't walk in & immediately say this was the house for us.  Also, it was such a departure from all of our other houses.  It took me about 24 hours to be able to picture myself & our things in the house.  Once we made the decision, we have not had one second thought."‍

Were there any unexpected challenges that came up when buying your new home or selling your previous home?

"There were several unexpected challenges when buying & selling.  Every time something came up, all I could say was, thank goodness we had Garcia Properties working for us. That sounds cheesy, but it's the truth!" ‍

It sounds like moving was both exciting & stressful; what was the best part of the process?

"Knowing that, God willing, this would be our last move!  And knowing that we did find the perfect house, in the perfect neighborhood for the right price."‍
